Chapter 14 &15: Mexamerica & California

Mexican Influences in California
California is home to a diverse population. Many culture intermingle on a daily basis. As earlier stated, ethnic towns is all over Los Angeles. Chinatown, Korea Town, Thaitown, Little Tokyo, etc. are part of the city. Signs in all different languages, some without English letters. One largest population of minorities that make up California are Mexican American. With borders between the US and Mexico in California many Mexicans immigrate to California in hopes for a better life. Twin cities located in Mexico sprawl up near majors California's cities and business between US and Mexico flourish across the border. The North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) helps flourish this relationship, increasing trade between United States and Mexico. You can find names with Hispanic background such as San Diego, San Jose, Los Angeles, and many more.

Missions were established during the Spanish occupation of California and has become a tourist attraction for modern many tourist. Housing beautiful Spanish architecture and rich historical information.

California, nicknamed The Golden State, was granted statehood in 1850. Founded by prospectors looking for gold. With long coastal lines California developed into a diverse state. Housing large ports and exotic agriculture, California became one of the most famous state in the United States. Throughout the world people watch movies produced in Hollywood. Homes to many famous actors and actress and home to many different types of people.
